5 Tips to a World Cup Mindset

Have you ever wanted something so badly, you woke up still dreaming about it?

On June 16, 2014, United States Soccer team player, John Anthony Brooks’ dream of scoring the game-winning goal came true! Brooks came prepared to play and to win, but he wasn’t on the starting roster. Two days before the biggest game of his life, John Brooks had a dream. He dreamt that he would score the game-winning goal in the last 88 seconds. Brooks was listed as a substitute and wasn’t called onto the field until one of his teammates got injured. That break was all he needed to see his dream come true, and it was in the last 86 seconds.

Athletes are not the only dreamers who envision their game-winning goals before they happen. If you’ve got a dream that hasn’t come true yet, you could benefit from some Athletic Mindset training. Here are 5 Tips to help you shoot for your goals:

1. CREATE what you want on paper

Stop talking about what you want, its time to put the pen to paper. List what you want personally and professionally. You won’t get what you don’t ask for, so start writing.

2. SEE it living color

It’s time to develop your visualization skills. Let your mind help you GET what you want by SEEING what you want. The more you “see” what you want, the closer you become to “feeling” it in your possession. KEY: The best time to do this is just before you go to sleep. Let your visions go deep into your subconscious.

3.  AFFIRM what you want

We are always affirming, sometimes in a positive way, and sometimes in a negative way. Affirmations start with, “I…” So if you say, “I am always late,” you’ll most likely continue to be late. Affirm what you want, let go of what you don’t want. Replace that negative statement with, “I LOVE being on time.”

4. Think HAPPY thoughts

Before you go to sleep, think about what you want, and include happy thoughts. The happier you go to sleep, the happier you’ll wake up. Yes, it is THAT easy.

5. Strengthen the Love and Gratitude MAGNET

Imagine your thoughts are like a magnet. The more positive your thoughts, the bigger the magnet. When you attach Love, Gratitude and Joy (the top of the Awareness Ladder) to what you want, your magnet gets stronger and stronger to attracting what you want to you. Like John Brooks scoring the winning goal, he visualized what he wanted and he believed 100% that he would achieve it. You can visualize, think about, and manifest what it is you want.
